High School picks for Week 8

High Schools Week 8

High schools back in my neck of the woods are into Week 8 of their season and teams are jostling for playoff spots in the upcoming VHSL playoffs.

Last week in the Roanoke Times’ VarsityCast, I had a very good 24-4 week putting me at 153-54 for high school picks this season. In my blog picks for last week, I had a perfect week 10-0 putting me at 65-15 for the year.

In the Piedmont District, Magna Vista has the week off to prepare for its final two games. Local school Carlisle also has a bye week.

I will jump right into this week’s picks:

Martinsville @ Bassett

This one should be a brawl, if the Bulldogs are healthy and stay mistake free…they should escape with the “W”.

Martinsville by 6.

Tunstall @ Patrick County

Should be an easy one for Tunstall as they look to a possible playoff spot.

Tunstall by 22.

GW-Danville @ Franklin County

Franklin County by 8.

Chatham @ William Campbell

Chatham still searching for a win….not this week

Wm Campbell by 12.

William Byrd @ Northside

Northside by 23.

Cave Spring @ Blacksburg

Cave Spring by 18.

Salem @ Christiansburg

Huge playoff quality game here but the Blue Demons may be too strong.

C’Burg by 18.

Glenvar @ Radford

Radford by 22.

Amherst County @ Jefferson Forest

Jefferson Forest by 5.

Halifax County @ Patrick-Henry Roanoke

Patrick Henry by 18.
