Week Two in Virginia....

Week 2 up!!

Ok, after a 17-8 start to the season at VarsityCast , I am looking to improve a bit this week. In my blog picks, I had an 8-2 week, even though Patrick county is vastly improved...they did not get the "W" that I predicted. Also Bassett surprised me with a big win on the road.

Ok, here we go with this Friday's picks:

Magna Vista @ Morehead, NC
Magna Vista can score if nothing else and should pick up the win this weekend.
MV for the win 40-22

Patrick Henry @ Bassett
Tough one for Bassett this week but they may keep it close at home.
PH 23-18

Tunstall @ Rustburg
Tunstall had a big win last week but many not be up to it on the road this week....
Rustburg 20-14

Martinsville @ Cave Spring
Cave Spring 30-18

Amelia County @ Dan River
Amelia County 27-14

Chatham @ Randolph-Henry
Randolph-Henry 22-20

GW-Danville @ Person County, NC
GW 20-8

Amherst County @ William Fleming
Amherst 40-7

Woodbridge @ Franklin County
Woodbridge 22-12

Lord Botetourt @ Salem
Salem 27-21

That will do it for this week, you can follow Virginia High School action through the Roanoke Times, the Martinsville Bulletin, and on WDBJ 7 out of Roanoke Virginia for Friday Football Extra.....

Until next week!!

College season kicking off....

Boise usually pulls a surprise this time of year....not this season though
Michigan State 30-10

San Jose State @ Stanford (21)
Not sure what Stanford has left but they should win this one, interested to see the son of Barry Saunders on the field!!
Stanford 44-17

It's Time.........

Yes, I'm Ready!!!!

It is that time of year again when one foolishly questions if people are "ready" for some football?? My response is of course......oh hell yeah!!!

Back in the Foothills of Virginia specifically is where I will be starting as the VHSL season kicks off on Friday East Coast USA time....early Saturday morning here in Australia. As usual, I will do my customary ten weekly high school predictions including all games involving Piedmont District games and select others from the Timesland area of Virginia. Next week I will be jumping full on into NCAA college football and the NFL the following week...busy, busy. I am also hoping to throw in a bit of stuff from the Australian "gridiron" competitions that are at various stages of their seasons.

Ok, I had a decent season last year so here we go with week one of high school football from Virginia!!

Brookville @ Martinsville
Defending Division 3 VHSL Champs Brookville will give Martinsville a chance to gauge the progress of their programme early when the Bees visit the Doghouse. Not sure how much Brookville has left over this season but the should get through this one....
Brookville by 34 18

Dan River @ Tunstall
Tunstall looks to be better this season and may just get by the Wildcats
Tunstall 20-12

Magna Vista @ Heritage
Rebuilt or reloaded?? That is the question around the Magna Vista squad as they embark on a season without Mr. Everything Harvey Taylor. The shelves aren't bare and the Warriors should get by Heritage.
Magna Vista 27-8

North Stokes (NC) @ Patrick County
Let's give the Cougars a first up win after last years winless season.
Patrick County 8-6

Bassett @ Carroll County
These teams seem to play close games against one another so...I'll just go with the home team.
Carroll County 18-14

Bluestone @ Chatham
Chatham 22-6

Petersburg @ GW-Danville
Eagles reverse last seasons one point loss
GW 28-20

Franklin County @ William Fleming
Franklin County 30-7

Hidden Valley @ Patrick-Henry (Roanoke)
Patrick Henry 22-12

Northside @ Amherst County
Amherst County 26-22

I am doing picks against the experts at VarsityCast in the Roanoke Times newspaper.

Ok, that will do it for now....until next week!!
